There are many people that don't like Jim Carrey and his brand of manic comedy, but there are few who are prepared to deny that he's got talent. He's an absurdly gifted performer and it's a safe bet that anyone who doubts this hasn't seen Man On The Moon. Here, he is little short of extraordinary.
It helps that Andy Kaufman is such an energetic character for the hyperactive Carrey. Although he wasn't well known outside the US, this strange, difficult comedian became a household name thanks to a regular part in the popular sitcom 'Taxi' and frequent appearances on 'Saturday Night Live' - where he'd mime...

Given the many negative comments posted here, it would appear that the majority of viewers were either expecting a slapstick Jim Carrey flick or an in-depth study of Andy Kaufman?s life. However what you actually get is more of a loving tribute to Kaufman?s ?unique? personality, with his bizarre exploits being superbly acted out by the unerringly accurate Carrey. Of course given that so many of Kaufman?s former acquaintances were involved in the film?s production the portrayal is somewhat rose-tainted, but for me that just added to its appeal. Whether you will enjoy the film will of course depend entirely on how you view of Kaufman?s off-the-wall antics and he certainly held a love-hate relationship with the American public.
