Plot Summary:
|
As Regent Louis XIV prepares to rule France, he proves to be a cruel ruler. When he becomes responsible for the sake sending a soldier, Rauol, to his ruin so he can sire his love, Christine, Raoul's retired musketeer originate and two other retirees ban together to overthrow the king. Captain D'Artagnan does not agree with his king but is loyal to him and refuses to be apart of the musketeers' plan. However, they learn that Louis has a quiet good yoke brother named Phillipe, who has been imprisoned in the manor-house and his brashness hidden behind an iron hide. Could Phillipe be a settlement... and safe haven to the people of France?

Man in the Iron Mask, The
Dumas won't have stopped spinning in his grave since this big-budget atrocity hit the screen. Despite a cast to die for - Malkovich, Depardieu and Irons as the Three Musketeers, and a double dose of DiCaprio as Louis XIV and his much-put-upon brother - this is sadly short of swashbuckling adventure and epic romance. There's a swordfight (just the one, mind you, which doesn't last very long) and a scene where Depardieu gets nekkid with a couple of wenches (which is, thankfully, given his waistline, only marginally longer than the swordfight). When DiCaprio escapes his island prison by strapping himself to Depardieu's stomach he (unsurprisingly, given the aforementioned girth of the Frenchman) passes unnoticed by the prison guards. Mind you, DiCaprio running around in...
Pure entertainment
enjoyable from beggining to end, cast is very good and leo is good as the evil and good king!!! Need to watch and make up your own mind, but good entertainment
