Mad Dog Morgan
Philippe Mora, the French-born Australian who worked for 'Oz' publication and established himself as an artist in swingin' 1960s London, made his debut as a director of unreal feature films with this 1976 "based on documented factually" drama starring Dennis Hopper. Hopper was then at the acme of his stain. His excess and unreliability had left him a virtual untouchable in original 1970s Hollywood, resulting in him drifting through the foreign movie problem - which was how he came to Australia. Mora would go on to be associated with trashier brand food, directing two Howling sequels in Hollywood, but while Daft Dog Morgan makes an arrival in Cut Hartley's superlative Not Altogether Hollywood, the film, while a long trail from a archetypal, is rarely Canada rub...
