Plot Summary:
|
The pathetically watchful LV lives the life of a hermit listening to her up-to-date fathers old records in her compartment and in the process driving her abusive, loud-mouthed nourisher, Mari Hoff, to distraction. At eventide, in any event, when her priest's ghost visits, LV sings the songs of the leading divas such as Judy Attire, Marilyn Monroe and Shirley Bassey. Individual evening LV is overheard by one of her mother's nauseating boyfriends, the disastrous midst-end faculty scout Beam Communicate, who recognizes her innate talent and realizes this is his form big chance in the interest of... the glittering prizes. Gambling everything Pencil Bruit about forces LV to appear at a local visit-down, seedy night club run by Mr. Boo. As preparations for the big circumstance proceed apace LV meets the equally shy Billy, a pigeon-racing telephone contrive and they form a trial, indulgent devotion. The big continuously finally arrives and everything is in readiness the group, the fellowship and even a big spokesperson from London, but what about LV?

Horrocks reprises the role she made famous in West End hit The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in the movie version, complete with abbreviated title and sweetened-for-cinema happy ending.
She plays the girl who retreats into virtual silence under the influence of her blowsy, domineering mum (Blethyn). She is only brought out of her shell when the latter's new boyfriend (Caine), a sleazy talent agent, discovers her ability to mimic famous singers of the past.
