Plot Summary:
|
Kate and her actor fellow-creature live in N.Y. in the 21st Century. Her ex-boy SW compadre, Stuart, lives above her apartment and finds this lacuna within easy reach the Brooklyn Bridge where there is a gap in opportunity. He goes back to the eighteen hundreds and takes pictures of the place. Leopold, a man living in the 1870's, was puzzled near Stuart's tiny camera and decides to keep up with him and they both ended up in this century. Leopold is clueless hither his new surroundings. He gets help and insights from Charlie who thinks that Leopold is an actor who is always in character. Leopo... ld is a highly intelligent man and tries his best to learn and tranquil improve the modern conveniences that he encounters.

Sweet, somewhat formulaic romantic comedy enlivened by time-travel confusion and amiable performances from stars Hugh Jackman, Meg Ryan and Liev Schreiber
Throwing time-travel complications into romantic tales is hardly unprecedented. Think Les Visiteurs, or the Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour weepie Somewhere In Time. Here, Meg Ryan's brand of Hollywood romantic comedy gets the temporal twist - and a good thing too, since despite the pleasures of When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless In Seattle, the genre isn't exactly brimming with innovation.

Meg Ryan is truly charming
This film is suprisingly good, but it does have to be said that the undoubted star of it is Meg Ryan, she puts in such a charming performance, when the other cast members seem slightly out of their dephts she relieves them. She adds a modern spin on a other wise preety ordinary two dimensional charecter, Haugh Jackmon also puts in above and beyond the call of duty, the two leads obviously have chemistry and the script enables them to be playful with their parts. The actual idea behind the film is preety ludicrous, a weird science guy finds a rip in time and goes back thousands of years but dosn't realise hes brought somebody back with him. Also the story is predictable, but not in a bad way, more in a homely safe way, at it's hard its a love story, but there is comedy, bits of dram...
