In the 1990s Shakespeare became fashionable in the cinemas, but Olivier's Henry V and Manckiewicz's brilliant treatment of this state thriller were ahead of the order off. Candidly, the acting styles alternate enormously from the influential Gielgud to the buxom Brando as Observe Antony, with pronounced screen actors Mason and O'Brien bridging the extremes. The fake has been cut, not butchered, and - the crowd scenes notwithstanding - the whole tune moves at a pace, not in a million years sacrificing battle scenes or diversions to make it cinema. If it had been in colour, the film would fitting be as popular as Antony with the crowds.
