Johnny Handsome
One of Rourke's better films, in which he plays a career criminal, deformed since birth, who gets a fresh lease of life when he is given a new face and paroled. He then seeks revenge on the folks who incarcerated him and killed his best friend (Henriksen and a marvellously catty Barkin, looking splendidly evil in a black leather get-up). Hill's film is more interesting than your average action no-brainer, largely because its central figure is more a pathetic anti-hero than anything else, someone who has never been given a chance to make a life for himself on account of his features. Quirky.
