Island of Lost Souls
Based on H. G. Wells's The Island of Dr Moreau, this may require the public thrills the genre demanded at the quickly, but its everlasting menace and Laughton's performance make this a genuinely unsettling take. Laughton is the scientist who has populated an island with the results of his experiments to transform the genetic order of animals. He plans to mate a cuffs with a woman he has created - at one who is slowly turning back into a panther. Moreau's descent into folly makes as uncomfortable viewing. This is a horror milestone, and, despite several attempts, a less ill modification of Wells's book has regardless to be made.
