Plot Summary:
|
Two sisters, plus a dead overprotect, a remarried father, and a inhospitable route-mommy. The sisters, each in her way, have perfected the business of losing. The venerable, Rose, is an attorney, responsible, lonely, with a closet full of shoes. The younger is Maggie, beautiful, selfish, and rash. Her drunken behavior gets her tossed by her step- from her dad's house; worse behavior gets her tossed from Rose's apartment. Then, while searching in her father's desk for money to filch, Maggie finds an lecture; the one-time and the future unfolded up to her and, with any good break, may open to h... er sister as closely.

If you have a sibling you know this movie..
I did not think I would enjoy this, I'll be honest, I was not in the mood for a chick flick with my best friend, but it was her turn to choose. What I discovered was a charming film with all the classic make you laugh / make you cry moments so skillfully done that it did not feel like a 'movie by numbers'. You saw genuine growth in the characters and you empathised with them - even Cameron Diaz - who is great at slapstick but not at drama. Try it, there is a slow build up but you'll be surprised at how engrossed you become.
A bit cheesey
This film is about 2 sisters, one loud, one quiet and how they get on. I didn't see this movie, but my wife felt it was an average film for people who like this kind of thing. Don't expect miracles, but 'nice' to watch.
