Plot Summary:
|
Another of Wilde's social satires, 'An Ideal Husband' revolves about the lives of two men, successful political figure Sir Robert Chiltern and his benefactor the uninspired but utterly charming Lord Arthur Goring. Chiltern's life is flawless thanks to the eschew of his loving and brilliant little woman Gerturde and the aid of his quick witted sister Mabel. Goring's life is one of lounging, flirting with Mabel, and avoiding his found's instance that he should ally. The world of these men is turned upside down nigh the arrival of old knowledge Mrs. Laura Cheveley who has come with compel in mind... . Chiltern could lose out the total including Gertrude. It is up to his wife and Goring to confront this bind, but it could risk Goring's chances to for good glean influence over Mabel. As the comments and lies begin to fly about, it's revealed that the fetter thought to be perfect is flawed, the the human race with all the flaws must do something valid, and the doubtful remains: what makes an ideal groom?

great movie
terrific cant have enough of these endearing tit for tat costume comedy drama.
Wilde fun!
This movie is a terrific romp through the clever witticisms of Oscr Wilde's play. I usually don't like Minnie Driver, but she was really good in it. Everett is fab as the womanising lead and handles the light twists and turns of the movie effortlessly. Not heavy emotional stuff by far, but good fun all the same.
