Honkytonk Man
A country and western musician in Depression-era America is determined to play at the Grand Ole Opry before his tuberculosis kills him. His nephew sees a chance to escape his cotton-picking life and so tags along for the ride. Obviously, it is a comedy ... Eastwood's film is uneven, indulgent and overlong, but, perversely, it still has a few good moments: the appearance of the some country greats, Eastwood's character trying to sing through his illness, the picturesque scenery. All this is not enough to save it, admittedly, but it is enough to make it hard to dismiss.
