Plot Summary:
|
Henry Poole just wants to disappear. Shattered not later than circumstances beyond his mastery, he offers intact cost on a cookie cutter house in a drab, -class, L.A. neighborhood through his bouncy realtor Meg. But, decent as he settles in to his lax isolation with a case of vodka and all the cast aside aliment he can eat, his neighbor, a well-sense busybody named Esperanza, drops by way of with a illustration of homemade tamales and a whole lot of questions. Despite his desire for solitariness, Henry can't help noticing Dawn, the excellent youthful divorc??e next door and ... her daughter Millie, an eight-year-superannuated mediocre watch who hasn't spoken a word since her parents' frustrate-up. Henry's self-imposed drive is shattered when Esperanza discovers a mysterious colouring on Henry's stucco wall that is seen to be dressed miraculous powers. Although Henry remains skeptical, he finds himself gradually tired help in the direction of moving spirit, especially after his aphonic attachment with Millie brings him closer to Advent.

Claudia PuigTold as a fable, Henry Poole Is Here tries to offer moviegoers a pool of hope in a barren landscape. Anchored by Luke Wilson's engaging performance, Poole is often affecting, occasionally vacuous. But it does tackle material that Hollywood has shied away from: the nature of faith and the existence of miracles. Henry is a disheartened man who tries to hide out in suburbia, in a drab house in the neighborhood where he grew up. It's never quite explained why he chose to spend a large sum of money on an unremarkable house that seems to bring him no joy.
