Plot Summary:

Written and directed by David Mamet, HEIST is a crime thriller that follows aging adept thief Joe Moore (Gene Hackman) as he plans one last pilferage beforehand literally sailing crazy into the sunset. What seems the perfect heist gets complicated, however, when Joe's "business" confederate, Bergman (Danny DeVito), insists that his traitorous nephew, Jimmy Silk (Sam Rockwell), yoke the band--consisting of Joe's prepubescent little woman, Fran (Rebecca Pidgeon), and longtime associates Bobby Blane (Delroy Lindo) and Don "Pinky" Pincus (Ricky Jay). A tense melee of wits and wills ensues, matchless to loads of twists and turns before the splendid finale. ... HEIST works wonderfully as a fast-paced, slight-of-hand dido flick. By focusing on conference over and beyond violence, Mamet allows his excuse script and remarkable dash to twinkle. Hackman (who seems incapable of giving a bad performance) and Lindo are solely outstanding and take the picture as deftly as their characters plot their lawlessness. Although the one-last-sacking tale has been told hundreds of times before, it's once in a blue moon been told than this.

Taught thriller
Ok ok, so its not the most original premise: wizend criminal goes in for one last job. howeverthis film tries to be nothing short of an action packed romp. Gene Hackman is as watchable as he always is and Delroy Lindo, Danny Devito and a whisply mustachioed sam rockwell all turn in performances that seem to scream out that they are all having loads and loads of fun making this.
its little daft but never too much to spoil it and its short enough and fast enough to whisk you along with the ride.
Theres a great quoteable line about being cool as well He's so f**king cool... well you have to see it to hear the rest!
Expertly helmed and scripted serpentine twisted neo noir flick
Expertly helmed and scripted serpentine twisted neo noir flick with aging career criminal Hackman coerced into one final gig before retirement with the usual double and triple crosses along the way. Excellent cast pulls off the tricky dialogue and machinations at hand especially DeVito at his scummiest, Lindo at his canniest and Rockwell at his oiliest; all delivering the goods.
Heist
From The Carnage to The Score, the heist movie has long been a Hollywood staple. After dealing with misdeed from such less well-worn angles as policeman's capacity fitting study (Homicide) and con artistry and mind games (The Spanish Three-time loser), writer-director David Mamet alights on this hoary chestnut. Of course he brings his trademark wit, savvy communication and plots twists. He's also assembled a proper mould, with the matchless Hackman ably supported by a punchy DeVito and a trouper Lindo. Hackman plays Joe Moore, a gunman who is all set instead of contented retirement with his innocent wife (actually Mamet's chain, Pidgeon). But then there's "the Swiss career", an almost great heist that is viva voce of in awed terms through Joe's combine, the tr...
