Plot Summary:
|
Dana Marschz is a failed actor and recovering alcoholic who's moved to Tucson to inculcate high high school drama, where he's plagued by bad reviews, follower impassiveness, budget woes (he and his wife, who is trying to fix expecting, take in a on), and his own teaching limitations. Because the other electives are closed, he finds himself with a large sort of seeming gangbangers, and the manager informs him that drama will be cut next trimester. On the advice of a evaluator reviewer, Dana decides to platform his own play, a sequel to "Hamlet" in which the prince and Jesus, with the practise ... of a time faction, inspect to save Gertrude and Ophelia. Claudia PuigThe Bard might be squirming in his grave, but not actually turning, with Hamlet 2, given that it doesn't quite live up to its eccentrically campy promise. Steve Coogan is sometimes absurdly funny as a delusional drama teacher and tortured artist. And a couple of the production numbers in the redux of the Shakespearean play are crazy clever, but the wit is spotty and sporadic. Its sharply funny moments make its lack of consistency all the more evident. The movie ends up feeling like a collection of moments, rather than a coherent quirky comedy.
