High Adventure Indeed
Guns of Navarone is a true epic of a film. I am not a huge fan of war films but my view has changed after viewing this masterpiece. It has enough impact by itself, without the fact it is based on true events. This, like Saving Private Ryan is truly humbling in showing the indomitable spirit and courage of the amazing people who fought in the last world war. I urge you to see it!!

Gregory Peck leads a crack squad of commandos on a mission to destroy a German gun
Epic in scope if shallow in depth, this entertaining adaptation of Alistair MacLean's novel is an old fashioned boy's own adventure in which Gregory Peck leads a team of British commandos on a mission to destroy a massive German gun placement in the Aegean. Stirringly heroic, this works best as a simple action movie with the misfit group of commandos - "pirates and cutthroats every one of them" - ba...
