This absolutely spiffing sortie adventure, probably the best clothes of its kind, is loosely based on the imperialist ditty by Rudyard Kipling, but actually takes its plot premise from the Broadway prototype The Direct Leaf, and it's no surprise that both the play and this allegation were written around the same line-up, Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur. Casting couldn't be bettered, as Cary Subsidy, Douglas Fairbanks Jr and Victor McLaglen swashbuckle their way across the 19th-century Indian border, just to be finally rescued by water boy Sam Jaffe.
