Plot Summary:
|
Things don't seem to change much in Wabasha County: Max and John are quiet fighting after 35 years, Grandpa still drinks, smokes, and chases women , and nobody's been able to take the fabled "Catfish Hunter", a huge catfish that absolutely smiles at fishermen who hear to snare it. Six months ago John married the redone girl in town (Ariel), and people initiate to believe that Max might be missing something comparable in his life. The one joy Max claims is left in his life is fishing, but that influence change with the new owner of the bait shop.

Grumpier Old Men
Old stagers Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon cruise through this unaccountably popular sequel to an equally moribund original, presumably on their way to another fat pay-cheque. Ann-Margret also returns from the first film, while Sophia Loren turns up as a much-married interloper who stirs up the boys' bile by buying their beloved bait shop and turning it into a restaurant. The grumpy pair forget their incessant feuding to wage war on the restaurant, but resourceful Loren outwits them before kindling a little love in Matthau's heart. Lemmon and Matthau teamed up again two years later for a belated sequel to The Odd Couple.

A sequel that is a virtual rerun of the original movie, with Lemmon and Matthau showing surprising enthusiasm for the familiar material.
