Green Card
Depardieu and MacDowell head the cast of this popular comedy drama, as two disparate folks - a louche Frenchman and a fastidious horticulturalist who enter into a coupling of convenience and end up discovering the delights of each other just as the authorities begin to close in on the Gallic immigrant. Weir's steam has its fair share of shrewd moments as the opposites slowly create to draw, but this is largely over rated stuff, which proved curiously popular with critics on its release. Depardieu does his obnoxious-to the present time-strangely-lovable stance with ease; however, the chimerical comedy tool MacDowell is less convincing.
