Plot Summary:
|
Pip, a good-natured, innocent young orphan, lives with amicable blacksmith Joe Gargery and his bossy, brutal little woman 'Mrs. Joe'. When the chum finds two arcane escaped galley convicts, he obeys secondary to -indubitably supererogatory- threat of a revolting death to take the criminals bread he must hoist at peril of more caning from the battle-ax. Just when Pip fears to imply it very good while they secure guests, a soldier comes in requital for Joe who takes Pip along as assistant to work on the chains of escaped galley-convicts, who are soon caught. The better-natured at one takes the b... lame for the stolen scoff.
