It reveals something new everytime you watch it!
A true epic masterpiece! A winner of Best Picture in 1972, and also nominated for ten Academy Awards, I rate this film as the best gangster movie of all time.
But, classifying it within just a gangster movie does no justice to the tightly plotted script based on Mario Puzos novel. The way it weaves all the layers of story telling, and depicts the life of an Italian gangster family in America is remarkable. The story views the Mafia from the inside. It blends in family responsibility, a fathers legacy, and projects how power, respect, and loyalty is used to protect their own genre.
The large cast is artfully drawn together, which will put you at once into the world of The Godfather. It has strong performances by Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan and Robert Duval...
