Plot Summary:

Based on the Jack Ketchum novel of the exact same name, The Maiden Next Door follows the unspeakable torture and abuses committed on a teenage woman in the supervision look after of her aunt...and the boys who witness and file for Chapter Eleven to report the misdeed.

Hard edged shocker
This is a truly horrific movie that deals 'head-on' with child abuse and which is based loosely on a true story (that of 16 year old Sylvia Likens) and that Jack Ketchum fictionalised as a horror novel. Taken in by their Aunt, who is obviously mentally disturbed, two young sisters become the victims of her sadistic games. The older sister endures increasingly severe cruelties until she finally dies. What makes this all the more incredible (remembering that this is based on fact) is that the woman encouraged her own childern to participate in the girl's torture and also included the local neighbourhood children. It all becomes a 'game' in the movie, as it apparently did in real life. This is a difficult movie to watch in many ways but the young cast do an amazing job in ...

Future film historians may take the career of Carmen Electra as a prime example of the male species' wilful ability to mistake bra size for talent. Whether squeezing into the red bathing suit in 'Baywatch', squealing in Scary Movie or stripping for her 'Aerobic Striptease' workout videos, Electra's fame seems to rest on two silicone enhanced assets.
As she approaches 35, though, there's only so much mileage to be had in playing bare-breasted bit parts. So there's something rather fitting about the fact that I Want Candy is not only Electra's first proper starring role but also a playful dig at her sex kitten persona.
