Fracture
Claudia PuigDon't mess with a brilliant captain of industry who flares his nostrils, smiles like he's baring his teeth and looks alarmingly like Hannibal Lecter. Unless you're a cocky hotshot prosecutor trying to pin the guy for the attempted murder of his wife. Anthony Hopkins is appropriately unnerving as an amoral head of an aeronautics firm, but Ryan Gosling steals Fracture as the lawyer who is out to convict him. But from all appearances, Hopkins allowed the theft to happen and enjoyed it. Their chemistry is palpable. Watching a veteran like Hopkins verbally joust with one of the best young actors in Hollywood is worth the price of admission. Fracture
Legal drama with Ryan Gosling attempting to prove that Anthony Hopkins is guilty of murder, despite an inconvenient lack of evidence
Anthony Hopkins is engineer Ted Crawford, first seen brooding over a huge, self-built executive toy, loaded with ball-bearings that zip around rails like those greedy boy scouts on the 'Jim'll Fix It' roller coaster. With Hopkins' combination of hooded eyes, jowly face and spiked, silver thatch conjuring an image caught mid-way between Malcolm McDowell and Les Dawson, it's little wonder that Crawford's wife (Daviditz) has decided to grab herself a little hot stuff on the side with local hostage negotiator Rob Nunally (Burke).

Pretty good, could have been excellent...
This gets off to a cracking pace, it really is both entertaining, clever and also humerous, up to half way in... Then it changes somehow, it seems to run out of its first sharp 'clever' steam, and that does dull its edge a bit. The first half has you thinking the clever so and so, then it sort of gets watered down in some way and the ending that should have been quite spectacular sort of trails off. It is still a really good movie nevertheless, well worth its 4 star rating, but it just missed out a little. I would recommend it.
