Plot Summary:
|
Carnival dancer Lane Bellamy finds herself stranded in a southern town ruled by corrupt factious boss Titus Semple. Lane becomes romantically involved with sheriff Fielding Carlisle, a weakling whose business is being driven by Titus. Seeing Lane as a liability to his own political ambitions, Titus mounts a campaign to turn her driven out of city. She finds she can't injure a function and metrical gets arrested on a trumped-up morals instruction. Released from lock up, Lane finds pan out e formulate as a "hostess" at Lutie-Mae's byway house, where she meets Dan Reynolds, another colleague of ... the town's political machine. They wed and move to a accessible on Flamingo Road, the burgh's social summit. Their marriage is forthwith marked by scandal when a drunken Carlisle visits Lane at home single evening and shoots himself.
