Plot Summary:
|
Tony and Felix own a tramp sailing-boat, and move lightly around the Caribbean doing varied jobs and drinking a lot. They agree to ferry the smashing but passportless Irena to another eyot. They both subside also in behalf of her, pre-eminent to disloyalty and a bust-up of their partnership. Tony takes a job on a carload ship. After a collision he finds himself trapped under deck with days running out (the ferry is aflame), and only Felix, whom he hates and has sworn to kill, left to save him.
