Plot Summary:
|
On Halloween nightfall, 1998, Eric Bottler (Sam Huntington) reunites with his old costly school buddies Linus (Christopher Marquette), Hutch (Dan Fogler), Windows (Jay Baruchel), and Zoe (Kristen Bell) at a garb group. There is tension between Bottler and his old friends, due to Bottler being the only one that matured since high imbue with. Bottler, now a successful car salesman, finds that his friends haven't changed a shred since weighty grammar; the integer a woman thing they assuage have in vulgar is their love of Principal Wars. The group encounters Harry Knowles (Ethan Suplee), who begins to beat up Windows, telling him to under no circumstances talk to his niece, Rogue Chief, again. After explaining their location Harry quizzes them to prove they are true fanboys, then gives them dirt on ditty of his contacts that knows how to successfully sign Skywalker Ranch. They are told to meet Harry's contact in Las Vegas, but more willingly than they get there they are arrested on fleeing a policemen vehicle. Zoe arrives to bail them out of jail, and accompanies them on their wander. Formerly in Vegas, Hutch and Windows make an attempt to have sex with some girls while Bottler and Linus go to take care of Harry's contact. They are shocked to find that his contact is none other than William Shatner. Shatner gives them the information they and leaves. Upon his departure, Seasholtz and his Trekkie friends, who were attending a Star Trek usage in Vegas, attack them. For now, Hutch and Windows uncover that the girls they were with are escort girls and their angry pimp (Seth Rogen) wants them to consideration up.

Fanboys
Claudia PuigThe Star Wars franchise is akin to a religion for some avid fans. And Fanboys tries to give us a window into this subset of aficionados. Though it does feature a few inspired comic moments, there is a surplus of tired, overused gags. To illustrate: Four straight guys accidentally wander into a bar filled with tough gay men; later, the least attractive and chubbiest of those straight guys thinks he's managed to seduce a beautiful blonde in Vegas only to find she's a paid escort. The same guys eat guacamole laced with mescaline and take the expected hallucinogenic sojourn. Haven't we seen these characters and situations a few too many times? The very premise of a road trip is overdone. And Fanboys falls into the sub-genre of a trip made ...

Peter DebrugeThe fans have spoken: In response to pressure from the online community, the cancer subplot prevails in Fanboys, a raunchy, rough-around-the-edges comedy about five Star Wars nuts who fulfill a childhood pact by breaking into Skywalker Ranch for an early look at Episode I. It's a qualified victory for a project with nearly as many alternate edits as Blade Runner, since the version set to open in September may satisfy the peanut gallery and preserve director Kyle Newman's vision, but exploits a less-than-solid storytelling device. Still, the resulting publicity should attract a decent geek-centric audience.
