After becoming fast friends, the pair of future dog groomers are recruited for a special needs order. Unfortunately, this class is not a radical instructive examination. Rather, it's a moneymaking arrangement exploiting Harry and Lloyd's intellectual deficiencies. The conniving Principal Collins (Eugene Levy) has singled out the two clowns ... to boost special needs enrollment--a scam to bring more educational funds to the secondary. Collins plans to employ those funds to supplementation an non-native vacation with his lover, the lunch lady Mrs. Heller (Cheri Oteri). When Mrs. Heller is file a postpone in assault of the class, a news staff trainee, Jessica (Rachel Nichols), begins to sift through. Absolute dross!!
The last time I paid a visit to the cinema was to see the original and it left an indelible mark on the part of my ageing brain that controls humour.
It was side-splittingly funny, it was original, it was well written and superbly filmed.
This new offering isn't at all funny, it was written by a team of pseudo-muppets and it was filmed on a budget equivalent to a weeks Jobseekers Allowance.
It's may suit the under-5's in the family and may, just may, provide them with a few titters. But for the rest of us it will be totally forgetable.
I can't really place the blame on such a poor film on the two main characters, they tried their best, but the storyline and the script were appalling.
As a previous reviewer said, 'avoid at all costs'...
Oh Dear
The frustrating thing about this film is that the makers had done the hard part by finding two actors capable of taking on the roles played in the original movie by Jim Carrey & Jeff Daniels. Eric Christian Olsen & Derek Richardson are very good as Lloyd & Harry but they have precious little to work with. The basic premise of the movie is quite a funny one but it limps from A to B with too many lazy and/or uninspired moments in between.
I'll give it 2 because the extras are truly exemplary, giving an insite into the thought and effort that have been put into a film that turns out to be pretty poor.
