Curates Egg
Curates Egg in that is was good in parts but overall it disappointed considering Bette Midler, Danny DiVeto and Jamie Lee Curtis were appearing. This must have gone straight to DVD which is probably the best place for it. Watch it if you have a couple of hours to kill but all the stars have done much better stuff than this although it did give an insight into trailer trash characters.
Yugo Girl!
Hollywood movies that don't achieve a distribution deal in the UK are usually rubbish. This 'poor white trash' comedy from 2000 is a couple of steps up from that, but that's all...
The Yugo joke will be lost on British and European audiences, so what remains is a character-driven 'comedy', as various characters may or may not be responsible for Midler's death.
Some hilarious one-liners and sight gags, and De Vito in particular scores here, underplaying to some effect, but in the end you get the sense that the cast thought it was way funnier than it actually is.
