Plot Summary:
|
When children's maker Henry Roth (Billy Crudup) loses his longtime illustrator, his publisher sends him a new artist, Lucy (Mandy Moore). He is a tangle of neuroses and nastiness, and he does everything he can to alienate her, be revenged despite the fact that he requirement deliver his latest book in less than a month. Getting a first feature financed, produced and distributed is a daunting task, and one can only admire those with the dedication and tenacity to attempt it. The blinkered determination to get a film made can be all consuming, regardless of whether there's an audience for it or even whether it deserves one. Such is the case, we suspect, with In The Name Of, a perplexing curio described by its director Beata Hughes as "a film about love and passion, about the things that make us what we really are, about every individual's struggle against the odds and about standing up to mediocrity and media pressure."
