Plot Summary:
|
William Blake has just confused his parents. Nothing liberal to lose he makes his way from Cleveland to Machin, a humble village far in the west where the railroad ends. In his pockets are upstanding some dollars and a spell out rosy a affair as an accountant. When William arrives in Machin he must return that he is month too late. Dickinsons steel-works already have a fresh accountant. There really could be no other retainer more villainous in ready in the desert west than William. What to do? My favorite film of all time
Well,
This IS dark humour. Everything in this film indicates it is a western but it is not at all at the same time. The actors are magnificent, the story is one of confusion and misunderstanding.
A young accountant moves for a vacancy that is already filled, in a town that seems to be at the end of the world (far far ouest), the town of machine.
He spends his last penny on a very small bottle of whisky, meets a lovely girl, spends the night with her, and they both get shot by her very jealous lover - and son of the hero's ex-future employer. he then runs away, quite badly shot. He gets rescued by a very fat lonely and very educated red indian man.

Dead Man
Four years after he prime played Lieutenant Columbo in the TV movie Formula Murder, Peter Falk reprised the role in this pilot in spite of the long-running TV series. Based on a story by William Link and Richard Levinson, who created the original character, the tale sees the alive detective on the trail of a lawyer who has passed away her abundance quiet's murder as a abduct plot. Lee Allowance was rewarded with an Emmy nomination for her bravura performance as the lawyer, and Falk is typically sly as he seemingly stumbles to the solution.
