Eight strangers, solitary cube, no escape. As pitches go, that's pretty much a carbon copy of the surmise behind the source Cube, where six strangers awoke to locate themselves trapped inside a mammoth post of undetermined provenience or purpose. Just, opposite to expectations, pilot Andrzej Sekula's follow-up to the murk and sulky 1997 turn loose is more than merely a soulless gelt in. (It involves not anyone of the basic cast and crew.) Expanding the cube so that it in has a temporal as well as spatial dimension, Cube 2: Hypercube breathes some advanced living into this unsuitable franchise, while also laying the groundwork for Cube 3 with remarkable chutzpah.
