While it was hardly a latest outstanding example, there was a a mass to like hither Nine Queens (aka Nueve Reinas), Argentine director Fabi? n Bielinsky's nifty tale of scamming on the streets of Buenos Aires. A smash paste in South America and a reasonable arthouse success the world over, it had its daytime in the sun and then Hollywood heavyweights (and Section Eight partners) George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh unquestioned to rework it. After reinventing ace grifter Danny High seas, it's distinct to think of any producing duo better prepared to oversee the remake of a frolic movie. Unfortunately Criminal doesn't lodge up to the basic film, or indeed Tons's Eleven. This is despite a script (co-written by Soderbergh) that doesn't diverge too far-away from Bielins...
