There's a moment in Paul Auster and Wayne Wang's flick X-rated In The Face when Jim Jarmusch takes a swallow and a suck and declares, "Coffee and cigarettes. That's like the breakfast of champions." Here the director of Ghost Dog: Progressing Of The Samurai and Round-the-clock On Earth gets a whole movie in which to honour his pick stimulants and some of their attendant rituals. Made in fits and starts between 1986 and 2003 (the project's genesis was a sketch for the sake US TV peek through 'Saturday Evensong Breathe'), more than a dozen of the boss's famous friends line up to play artfully extravagant versions of themselves.
