Plot Summary:
|
In 1943, A dying gunner, who was in a crash involving a Of like mind States B-17, gives a ring to a local to revert to his girlfriend in the USA. Fifty years later, a servant finds the set and tracks down the girlfriend and the account of this ring. Set in Belfast and Michigan.

Beautifully made, traditional love story
I loved this film - like something from the Golden Age of Hollywood, this is a beautifully told love story throughout the ages. With the inclusion of the Northern Ireland Troubles, it keeps the plot fresh and intesting. The cast is great and I particularly loved Martin McCann - one of the best young actors to come from our side of the pond...

With just three directorial credits to his name between 1996 and 2007, and one of those being the severely misguided Grey Owl (1999), the prospect of a new Dickie Attenborough film is unlikely to sets hearts racing. Fortunately Closing The Ring avoids the overwrought, over-long style of filmmaking into which the director, now in his eighties, has frequently slipped.
