A New Direction
A far cry from the days of Roger Moore's arched eyebrow and safari suit, Daniel Craig brings a depth and menace to Ian Fleming's vision. Casino Royale contains enough improbable gunfights and aerial stunts to satisfy the traditionalists but dispenses with the wisecracks and cheekiness in favour of a pared down and therefore more riveting story. Craig has stepped into the role of the fledgling 007 with style and confidence and has already made it his own. He suits the grittier, more violent story and has introduced a raw magnetism to the role that hasn't been seen for a long time. Absolutely fantastic.
The worst Bond
Not a classic Bond..in fact in my opinion its the worst one i've ever seen (and i've seen em all). A lacklustre story, no drama, no plot, bitty, no memorable bad guy, no gadgets, no memorable bond girl. The action scenes were even less believable than previous bonds. I'm afraid the Bonds have taken a step backwards for me. However, Daniel Craig was good and well suited to action but not so good as a ladies man. (Roger Moore for that)
Casino Royale
Claudia Puig You could call Casino Royale "The Bond Identity."
The latest James Bond installment has less campy flavor and more pulse-stopping action (?? la The Bourne Identity). It also sets the scene for Bond's evolution from a cocky brute into the sophisticated and suave spy we know and love.
Though Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan distinguished themselves in previous movies, Daniel Craig has made Bond his own. His portrayal feels grittier and more complex than previous 007s. This is also partly the result of a better script, by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Oscar winner Paul Haggis, as well as top-notch directing by Martin Campbell (GoldenEye). Craig brings a sadistic edge and intensity to the role - along with a wondrously chiseled physique. He also has...
Casino Royale
Todd McCarthyAfter once, there is accuracy in advertising: The credits report Daniel Craig as "Ian Fleming's James Bond 007," and Craig comes closer to the author's original commencement of this exceptionally wish-lived masculine pretence figure than anyone since Sean Connery. Casino Royale sees Bond recharged with fresh toughness and arrogance, along with balancing hints of sadism and humanity, just now as the fabled series is reinvigorated on going back to basics. The Penetrate Brosnan quartet set financial -water marks for the franchise that may not be matched again, but public curiosity, be of much high-octane demeanour competition through the sabbatical seasonable and the new skin's intrinsic excitement should nonetheless generate Bond-worthwhile revenue internationally. ...
Casino Royale
Kenneth TuranWhat becomes a romance most? How do you retool an icon without alienating a hound ignoble that has been dependable repayment for longer than the heart movie audience has been alive? What, in other words, do you do with James Bond?
Starting 44 years ago with Sean Connery starring as Agent 007 of the British secret utilization in Dr. No, the 20 James Trammels features deceive been as predictable in their cultivated posturings as the shaken-not-stirred martini selection of their principal.
Rarely, with Casino Royale, the hero with a thousand smirks has been agreed-upon a shrewd and on the whole well-to-do disposition regulation that ups the series' reality quotient and provides an opportunity for evening star Daniel Craig to show a wide audience ...
Casino Royale
Few bang cultural phenomena verify that the memory deceives quite the James Bond series. Just so, if above-named generations were to be believed, the 007 saga was an effortlessly apart from concern peppered with Cissy-esque bon mots and performances that recall Laurence Olivier in his pomp. In reality, Thongs on the big select has been a petition-or-miss romance almost from the start. And since the pattern video, Lessen Another Day, was the brand of pass up that suggests the Brocolli/Wilson producer team would be struck by a mightily time hitting a cow's arse with a banjo, it's lately looked as if Bond's as much a trace of yesteryear as the Biting War. Whether Daniel Craig could renew the series to high estate has interested tons and obsess...
