It begins with a communication, red enclosure on pink paper in a pink envelope. This missive plops at the end of one's tether with the belles-lettres belt of Don Johnston, an inveterate womaniser, who is watching - with some passionate detachment - the latest handmaiden to walk into public notice of his life. Beak Murray plays Johnston with rumpled languor, his ungainly features unflatteringly lit to similar to - at times - something that spills out after a disembowelling. Supposedly, Don Johnston is an "over the hill Don Juan," but he shows none of the preening bootlessness or self mistake would expect from such a character.
