Plot Summary:
|
BLUES BROTHERS 2000 (1998) Upon his release from choky, straight away occasionally-brotherless Blues Fellow-countryman Jake Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) puts the keep back together with the help of a golden-voiced strip joint bartender (John Goodman) and a advanced 10-year-ageing orphan (J. Evan Bonifant) on advance from the comically abusive Sister Mary Stigmata (Kathleen Freeman). This beside oneself issue to the original BLUE BROTHERS comedy/musical makes assets c incriminating evidence usability of its copious celebrity cameos, which include appearances from old schoolers James Brown, Aretha Frank... lin, Eric Clapton, Bo Diddley, and Isaac Hayes in addition to bits from blues phenom Jonny Lang, Erykah Badu, and John Popper.

What have they done...?!
Arrrgghh!
The first film is in my top ten of cult classics - absolute genius. This is a complete mockery of everything that is The Blues Brothers.
Although there was a reason to add new characters (God bless the latter and John Belushi) the addition of the young'un 'Buster' made me quiver in me boots! My personal feelings of this are that The Blues Brothers are far too 'criminally minded' for little kids to get involved. This, in one instance is what made the original film so compelling.
Unfortunately, the plot in 2k has nothing on the original. It isn't based on real-life scenario and although Dan Akroyd had a good idea to re-live the spirit, there was no back-bone to support it. A good example of this is a scene containing voodoo. Far too far-...
Ackroyd, why destroy a legend
I was always a SNl fan, especially when they had Bill Murray, John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd, so the initial Blues Brothers film was immediately a classic. So how depressed was I when I watched this. Ackroyd can't need the money, so why when reading the script didn't he just tear it up or better yet, shoot the writer (term used loosely!). All of the people involved in this movie should watch the original and beg forgiveness for their involvement in soiling a classic. P.S. Goodman, NO!!! you are not and never will be in Belushi's class!
