Blind Fury Rutger Hauer plays a blind Vietnam veteran with an incredible ability with a samurai sword. Funny, fast paced and utterly daft
A rather odd actioner, with Hauer as a blind Vietnam veteran who has to save a bratty kid (O'Quinn) from gangsters and deliver him to his blackmailed father (O'Quinn), an old war comrade.
Hauer's an expert with the samurai sword he has concealed in his stick, and he dices the bad guys who queue up to take the mick out of his disability, thundering along nicely through the humorous script. There are some unpleasant cute kid moments, but this is made up for with some entertaining baddie bashing.
Quite agree with the comments here. Watched this when I was younger and loved it, saw it again not so long ago and it still felt the same. That is unusual enough. the action scenes (pre-cgi) are fantastically fast and realistic.
Like many a damaged man of the hour, Police station Parker (Hauer) is a Vietvet, but his experiences left him blind, not batty. A credits...
Violent American modulation on a Japanese samurai series of the 1960s featuring Zatoichi the unaffected swordsman, which gains nothing from being transferred from the 1800s to the nonce-time Los Angeles.
