Plot Summary:
|
In Denmark, A.D. 507, the realm of King Hrothgar is threatened away the tormented demon Grendel that attacks the locals in their celebrations. The Danish king offers a reward for the termination of the creature, attracting to Herot the brave Geet warrior Beowulf that seeks on account of glory. After a brutal battle, Beowulf defeats the fiend and after receiving an old memento as favour, he finds his men slaughtered in the platoon saloon of the castle. Prince Hrothgar advises that the Grendel's overprotect was the responsible for the blood-letting and Beowulf chases her in the lake where she l... ives. The mundane takes the tint of a seductive woman and seduces Beowulf with a promise of becoming an invincible and well-heeled ruler if he makes treasure to her and gives his golden relic to her. Years later, King Beowulf feels the aftermath of his sin.

Funny, exciting, earthy, saucy and visually remarkable, this modern interpretation of an old text is enjoyable and fascinating cinema. Though it must be pointed out that what you make of Beowulf may depend on how you experience it.
The film's optimum incarnation is as 3D digital IMAX, the whopping screen and optical trickery bringing the film's fully digital world to life in astonishing form. For its 2007 theatrical release, it will also show in standard 3D digital, digital 2D and dear old 35mm, and punters will get progressively less out of the experience with each step down. Sick beyond belief
This film should definately not be a 12!
It was way too gory and violent. From the very first scene it was just disgusting. I hated every moment of it and only stayed to watch it because we had paid to watch it at the cinema.
GO LARGE WIF IT
SAW THIS IN 3-D AND CAN ONLY SAY ITS AWESOME TO LOOK AT - BIT GORY FOR THE YOUNG UN'S THOUGH BUT A VISUAL EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE MISSED, ONLY 2 CRITICISMS RAY WINSTONE WAS JUSTA BIT TOO LONDON FOR ME AND ALTHOUGH THE ANIMATION WAS SUPERB THROUGHOUT THEY STILL CANT DO HORSES PROPERLY - A COUPLE OF MINOR FLAWS THAT DO LITTLE TO SPOIL AN EXCELLENT MOVIE - GO SEE IT ESPECIALLY IN 3-D IF U CAN
