Basket Case 2
Van Hentenryck and his telepathic mutant kinsman attempt to weasel out of a unyielding tabloid journalist by taking refuge in Granny Ruth's house of freaks. Henenlotter's gratuitously nauseous, obscene budget, schlock animosity comic lacks the earnest extremity and grotesque humour of its predecessor. One hideously crooked living thing physical in a hostile world ensures that its predicament is kept in swell focus, but when it's crowded peripheral exhausted alongside an entire ménagerie the effect is frantic and the audience begins to squirm. Go on increase a subplot involving the creature's compulsion to mate and we're talking tasteless with a cap 'T'. Any similarity to Tod Browning's Freaks is shallow to say the least.
