Plot Summary:
|
A prior rock eminent, Johnny Boz, is brutally killed during sex, and the case is assigned to detective Pinch Curran of the SFPD. During the investigation, Steal meets Catherine Tramell, a crime novelist who was Boz's girlfriend when he died. Catherine proves to be a very clever and manipulative mistress, and nonetheless Gouge is more or less convinced that she murdered Boz, he is not able to experience any hint. Later, when Nilsen, Nick's rival in the police, is killed, Nick suspects of Catherine's involvement in it. He then starts to treat cavalierly a perilous libidinousness-filled mind amu... sement with Catherine to nail her, but as their relationship progresses, the bulk count rises and contradicting evidences force Nick to start questioning his own suspicions wide Catherine's blameworthiness.

Paul Verhoeven's unashamedly upfront thriller introduced the world to Sharon Stone, playing ice-maiden murder suspect and author Catherine Tramell, who is being investigated (in more ways than one) by Michael Douglas
Basic Instinct wastes no time in establishing its shock tactics. Opening on a shot of a man and a blonde woman making love, it soon descends into a bloodbath as the woman hacks her bound-up lover to pieces with an ice pick. The unfortunate victim is rock star Johnny Boz (Cable), ex-boyfriend of Catherine Tramell (Stone), who just happens to have written a novel in which a duplicate murder occurs, down to the last detail.
Detective Nick Curran (Douglas) is put on her case but soon finds himself drawn towards her in a less than profession...
