Plot Summary:
|
Sad, sharp mockery of the goggle-box industry, focusing on an Ivy-Confederacy sensitive black journalist at a major network. Frustrated that his ideas for a "Cosby Direct"-esque take on the black family has been rejected not later than network rudeness, he devises an grotesque scheme: reviving the bard explain. The hook: as a substitute for of drained actors in Stygian clock, the show stars black actors in even blacker face. Engaging its hint from gargantuan-establishment satires Network and Putney Swope, Spike Lee's Bamboozled - next to Do The Promptly Detail - could've been his most effective rush-relations video until now. But by the straightaway you emanate dazed from this extended soapbox application, covet after it should've ended, you feel Lee and co have battered you senseless with their stifling-handed methods. Concluding with a four-minute compilation of energetic and live-action clips from America's shady TV and film chronicle, where whites 'innocently' put on boot-black to impersonate blacks, the movie is a draining experience that is in reckless constraint of pruning.
