Is this the worst film ever made?
My daughter and I watched this film, and couldn't believe that we stuck with it all the way through. Must be that we were too tired to move? It was UNBELIEVABLY bad...... We couldn't decide if it was a complete piss take, or just appalling. We decided it was so bad it was funny, and as in the shortened version they cut most of the important bits out, it made it even funnier. Angel
In 1905 England, a poor but ambitious young girl sets out to be a famous writer, but success doesn't bring always bring happiness. Romola Garai stars in Fran??ois Ozon's drama
Fran??ois Ozon's diverse career has taken in everything from the satirical comedy-drama of Sitcom to the Bergman-esque relationships of 5x2 and the frothy musical fun of 8 Femmes. This has given the director a strong reputation for classy, multi-layered films. By contrast Angel is a cinematic confection so souffl??-light it often feels like a deliberate spoof, and yet it's hard to know whether Ozon himself is in on the joke.
Angel is a heightened recreation of 1950s costume dramas - an old-fashioned saga of love, art and ambition. Beginning in 1905, it's the story of Angel Dev...
