Plot Summary:
|
It's the early 1970s and the local anchorman is not solitary a source of news but a revered county protagonist. In San Diego, Ron Burgundy (Drive Ferrell), a moustachioed bachelor with a taste respecting scotch, consummate passion for the jazz flute, and a near-telepathic connection with his dynamic mutt, Baxter, is that man. Rounding out Ron's testosterone-depressing news get are his close friends--cologne-obsessed man-on-the-street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), sports reporter Champ Sympathetic (Dave Koechner), and mentally challenged weatherman Brick Tamland (Steve Carrell). Their spear cama... raderie is challenged, admitting that, when grower Ed Harken (Fred Willard), pressured by changing times, brings the earliest female reporter, aspiring Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), to the team. Ron finds his chauvinistic ideals compromised advance when he starts falling in fuck with her. Fuelled before Ferrell's singularly loopy self, ANCHORMAN joins the hunger list of comedies which set up successfully poked fun at the styles and mores of the '70s. Here, with Ferrell's pen and Adam McKay's direction, the seal of Ron Burgundy becomes a full-bodied facetious formation whose possibilities for laughs aren't nearly exhausted by the put an end to credits. The result is an often hilarious performance of moustaches, wide neckties, alcohol invective, and good, full of years-fashioned sexism.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Will Ferrell is the best thing to hit mainstream American movie comedy since the Farrellys thwacked it with spit and giggles. In his brief, ever-brightening film career, the funnyman has staked a claim on comedy with a screen persona that embodies the age-old struggle between innocence and knowledge, between the wonderment of childhood and the gnawing disenchantments of adulthood. It's a persona that innocently pokes a stick at the fallen world with a great big "why" -- as in, "Why can't a grown man be one of Santa's elves?" -- and no matter the answer, continues on its joyfully guileless way.
Ferrell's latest and most successful bid at comic transcendence, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, takes place in a 1970s that's as seemingly shut off from reality as a TV...
Whether or not you liked this film.........
you had to love the moment when you realise just how amazing the anchorman really is.....
when reading the autocue he signs out as....
'I'm Ron Burgundy?'
i nearly died of laughter! a moment of true comic genius!
the rest of the film was very good but this one gag elevated it to 5 stars for me!
