Plot Summary:
|
George & Kathy Lutz and Kathy's 3 children are moving into an elegant Extended Island home. What they don't know is that 6 gruesome murders were committed there the year before - Ronald DeFeo Jr., the oldest son in the family, murdered his parents, his 2 brothers & 2 sisters by shooting them with a .35 caliber in November of 1974. No sooner are the Lutzes moved into the billet than they found seeing terrifying things - the ghost of Jodie DeFeo, horribly disfigured bodies - and hearing ghostly voices in every part of the residence. George seems to notice it the most, and it isn't sustained befo... re he becomes a danger to those roughly him. Amityville Horror, The
Claudia Puig"For God's sake, get out!" That was the tag line for the original 1979 Amityville Horror. That simple admonition rings truer to those who go to this leaden remake.
Watered down: Melissa George and Ryan Reynolds play hapless homebuyers George and Kathy Lutz in the remake of the horror classic.
In this Amityville, the performances are bad, the special effects ho-hum, and it's not even particularly scary. (Related video: See the trailer)
The premise is well known, as is the fact that it's based on a "true" story. Because of a grisly mass murder that occurred within its walls, a rambling mansion is filled with evil, as if a demon has possessed its very architecture.
The gruesome murders were reported in all the papers, but...
Edge of your seat thriller/horror
What a great film! Was not expecting anything special - just your run-of-your-mill horror. Oh No! A really spooks movie, very much Jumpy and edge of your seat stuff. So much so practically the entire cinema audience screamed at one particular scene - Not me of course being a bloke...
Storyline is simple - familly move in to a old house - couldn't believe the cheap price - thought they got a bargain. The previous occupants were all murdered by the Man of the house in a rage - children, women, wife, the lot, brutal stuff. Anyway, you get the jist, new man of the house moves in and all seems well at first. Until he begins to think his family are crazy.
