Plot Summary:
|
A bulky six-hour biopic of Napoleon, tracing his rush from his schooldays (where a snowball fight is staged a military campaign), his flight from Corsica, by way of the French Gyration (where a valid gale is intercut with a governmental storm) and the Fear, culminating in his triumphant intrusion of Italy in 1797 (the pic stops there because it was intended to be part bromide of six, but director Abel Gance at no time raised the rhino to establish the other five). The mist's imaginary reputation is outstanding to the astonishing range of techniques that Gance uses to tell his statement, culmi... nating in the ending twenty-minute triptych sequence, which alternates widescreen panoramas with complex multiple- double montages projected simultaneously on three screens.Read more Less
