This odd, about surrealistic, fable western hit a spirit at the time and became a larger success at bottom because of the mesmerising engagement of Tony Randall, who plays the eponymous doctor and no less than six other roles. It tells the tale of a bizarre touring circus, which arrives in town to put the anticipate of God into the locals and teach them a few of living's lessons along the at work. What distinguishes this intriguing movie is the glorious make-up, which won William Tuttle a much-deserved Oscar. The townsfolk are a play with stereotypical — staring eyes and toothless leers care of frayed bonnets — but Randall engages from reel anybody.
