Plot Summary:
|
The leading space flight to Venus returns to Earth carrying a pattern of Venusian life called the Ymir. When the move crashes into the sea upon its re-record into Earth's atmosphere, the trifling, reptilian organism escapes, growing to an enormous volume, sooner terrorizing the bishopric of Rome. The as a last resort beautiful and impressive bodily animations of the lofty Ray Harryhausen elevate the film above the level of expected 1950's freak sci-fi. The Ymir is one of the excellent-known creations in his long, prominent calling.

20 Million Miles to Earth
A spaceship returning from an expedition to Venus crashes verge on Sicily, releasing a fast-growing reptilian monster that rampages through Rome in one of animation master Flash Harryhausen's superior inventiveness films, and his own exclusive girl. The ratfink-tailed giant Ymir monster is also one of Harryhausen's finest creations: it has a well-defined personality and manages to evoke sympathy for its bewildered grind away. The Ymir's fight with an elephant and the Roman locations — specially the climactic Colosseum battle — add solitary touches to this secondary classic.
