Stephen Mendel began singing at age 8. Schooled in Montreal, he graduated Bishop's U. with a BA in drama and began working almost immediately in theater. Film and TV roles followed quickly. He moved to Los Angeles, and shortly was cast in the CBS series _"Night Heat" (1985)_ (qv), filmed in Toronto, Canada, spending five seasons on the show as Det. Fred Carson. Very much a chameleon, he is often unrecognizable from one role to the next, playing cops, crooks, scientists, doctors, good guys and ba... d. He grows beards, mustaches, wears hairpieces, glasses, etc., in the quest to capture the character. He has studied with many teachers but uses an unstudied synergistic approach to acting. A master of accents and dialects, he also does voice work in animation, narration and voice over work. He loves to sing, especially folk music, and plays the guitar.
