Rich Ho had spent his life in mainstream education being infamous. When he was 3, he decided during a family tour to Taiwan to run up a national monument by himself and recite a Chinese poem to the panting tour group who had chased after him. When he was 11, the teacher said to build a village hut for their history project, and while the other kids bought ice-cream sticks and glue, he ordered timber and concrete. (He never managed to build it, his parents found out when the goods were delivered... ). When he was 13, he staged a hijacking for an analytical skills class (along with explosions from gunpowder scratched out from small fire crackers and a boy jumping out of the classroom window in "fear" onto a ledge outside the building). The lady teacher (who was unaware of the ledge outside) screamed and the other classes came to watch. When he was 14, he joined a national music composition competition. He was asked by the judges, "What kind of music do you usually listen to?" and he replied, "My own." The judges laughed before they realized that he wasn't joking. He was the youngest participant and in a later national competition, the youngest winner. When he was 19, he received his first film commission and Richmanclub Studios was born. When he was 24, he graduated from university with a Business Management degree. They commissioned Richmanclub Studios to produce a video for the graduation ceremony. It turned out to be "The Alien Invasion", a short film featuring an absurd intergalactic battle on the comical side of Singapore and starring 80 students, professors, and university staff as they take on the mission to save the world. The film was later the first Singaporean Film to garner a nomination at The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, 2004, under the International Digital Shorts Competition. In 2005, Rich began preparing for Richmanclub's debut feature film. With his partner, he wrote the script, produced and financed the production, designed the costumes, painted the props, auditioned the cast, directed, filmed and shot, edited, created the special effects and sound effects, and drove the production van.Read more Less
