A child actor on stage in the early 1900s, Philip Tannura appeared as a juvenile in several Edison one-reelers, in 1912 and 1913, before becoming a noted stills photographer and cameraman. Serving in World War I as a cameraman for the U.S. Signal Corps, Tannura later joined Paramount Eastern Studio, and was a cameraman for bucolic 1910s star Charles Ray at FBO. He was sent to Europe by Paramount after the changeover to sound and later joined Gaumont British, photographing scores of the
